“The two most important things people can possess are a skill in talking to others and a care in how they talk to themselves.”
Having been working in sport, education and employment for over twenty years, Sam recognises there are two main things which improve your chances of being successful, in whatever field you choose to work in:
Communication with others
Being able to understand how best to communicate with others leads to success in all areas of life. Becoming self-aware of how you come across is the first step in being able to influence, persuade, lead, follow, be confident, socialise, network, develop, grow, succeed and enjoy life; these, in turn, will lead to financial/ job and emotional security. Statistics on how great communication leads to workplace success are many.
Communication with yourself
Being able to recognise how you talk to yourself and care for your mental health is often cited as one of the most important skills you can have in modern society. Developing a healthy appreciation of how you feel and why that might be, and being able to employ tools and techniques to look after your mind are arguably the most important life skills you can own. 100% of your life is spent with yourself, it is essential to have a good relationship with that person.
- Working with all ages, Sam’s ability to allow people to recognise, understand and galvanise change is outstanding.
- Most recently, Sam has coupled his understanding of communication coaching with that of performance mindset coaching (under the tutelage of Don Macpherson) and is already working with elite performers to produce excellent results.
- Sam is also a broadcaster having worked with some of the world’s best-known production companies, delivering award-winning content.

Sam is offering a ten-week course that allows people to work on their communication and performance mindset skills. Taught in small groups, Sam will coach all levels of learner through tried and tested schemes of work that allow everyone to become more aware and more in control of how they operate.

Proof of Value
A group of ten A-Level (Y13) students enrolled in a five-week lunchtime course with Sam, ahead of their exams, here’s how they described their mindsets prior to the coaching:
Here’s how they felt after the coaching sessions with Sam:
Testimonial: “I would recommend the Monkey Mind sessions to everyone. It feels like the sessions are catered to dealing with everything in life that we may have to go through. I have gotten so much out of the sessions because unlike similar programs I have been in, it feels like it is very achievable and not out of reach. Similar programs seem to cater to people with a certain baseline of self-awareness and self-understanding, whereas I think anyone from any background could get something out of these – it is something that doesn’t take much effort to implement in your life but makes a drastic difference. I would recommend the sessions because they increase your awareness of yourself, your success and your happiness/emotions, which has allowed me to view myself and the things I do from a realistic perspective. It taught me about removing tensions from situations and why certain things make you happy. I would especially recommend the sessions to anyone who has to do activities under high pressure.” Y13, Male

if you can’t put that intelligence across?”

He spoke with passion, experience and clarity; giving practical examples of how the skills these young people are developing through rugby are important to all aspects of life. A really valuable workshop for our boys.” Matt Lishman, Bath Rugby Academy Lead
“That was world-class! Broke down communication to a tee. The lads will have taken so much from that, thank you for giving up your time.” Mark Applegarth, Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Academy
